One area that can help you refine why customers start a trial is to ask them the appeals of your product or service. Let your customers tell you what motivated them. We've also seen that the response rate poised to customers who just bought it typically higher than focusing on customers abandoning their shopping cart. Reason being is these are the visitors who are engaged with your service, and they tend to be more willing to share their thoughts.
If you have a “Thank you for starting your trial” page, you can run a variety of survey questions and enjoy a high response rate (expect over 20%).
Survey Content
Possible questions to help uncover this objective:
- "What persuaded you to start a trial?"
- "What convinced you to signup for a trial?"
- "What convinced you to start a trial?"
- "What's the one thing that nearly stopped you from starting a trial?"
Recommended answer type: Text-based write-in, required.
TIP: Remember to always mark write-ins as required. This will ensure that survey takers can only move to the next step once they've entered a response, and it will avoid blanks from showing in your reporting.
