Creating a robust product/seminar for your users.
-
Identify the early adopters of your product.
A few examples of how you can recruit users onsite as research participants using Qualaroo surveys:
Example 1
Example 2
Recruiting user research participants can be done in the following ways:
2. Various targeting parameters such as:
Survey Composition
Using the CTA Message Screen
This option leverages the power of Qualaroo and your calendar to schedule time directly with your participants.
Step 1: Select the verbiage to prompt your users to meet with you, and choose the radio button with “Yes” or “No” as answer options.
Step 2: If the user selects “Yes,” direct them to a Message screen containing a Call-to-Action button that links them to your calendar.
Or
If the user selects “No,” lead them to a “Message screen” with a “Thank you” message.
Using URL Redirect
This option leverages the power of Qualaroo and your calendar to schedule time directly with you like the option above, but with one less step.
Step 1: Select the verbiage to prompt your users to meet with you, and choose the radio button with “Yes” or “No” as answer options.
Step 2: Select the next step to automatically redirect them to your calendar link if they answer “Yes.”
Or
If they answer “No,” send them to a “Message screen” with a “Thank you” message.
Using Lead Generation Form
Step 1: Select the verbiage to prompt your users to meet with you, and choose the radio button with “Yes” or “No” as answer options.
Or
Step 2: If they answer“Yes,” present your user with a Lead Generation form asking for their most pertinent contact information.
Or
If they answer “No,” send them to a “Message screen” with a “Thank you” message.
Alternatively, simply start with the Lead Generation form and ask all users interested in participating to fill in their information.
Targeting Parameters Examples
Targeting your home page or all pages of your website
In this example, you can leverage Simple URL Targeting to ask your users on either the home page or your entire site to provide feedback. It is the best approach to target your total population.
Step 1: Simply select qualaroo.com if you want to target only your homepage or qualaroo.com/* if you want to target your entire site.
Suggested survey composition pairing: Composition Examples 1, 2, and 3
All three composition examples can apply here based on your needs. For situations where you are targeting users in front of a log-in wall, we recommend example 3.
A Lead Generation Form can help you obtain information from any user and can come in handy in situations where you might not already know the identity of your users because they are not being reached behind a log-in wall.
Targeting specific locations on your website
For this situation, you can use Advanced URL Targeting to ask users to engage with particular features or sections of your website. This method is beneficial for recruiting relevant users to provide feedback on your specific features or offerings and avoid users who do not utilize this feature.
-
Enter the webpage address in the required field for specific targeting.
Suggested survey composition pairing: Composition Examples 1 and 2
We suggest examples 1 and 2 based on the assumption that your users taking part in a particular feature or service are already engaged onsite, potentially behind a log-in wall, and you already have their contact information.
However, if the intended location is not behind a log-in wall, feel free to proceed with example 3 if you also want to collect their contact information.
Targeting specific users based on user attributes or personas
In this example, you can use Custom Property targeting to identify and recruit users who fit a persona or particular set of attributes that you determine.
This approach is powerful for collecting participants who fit into a specific type of usage, the tier of service, or any other variable that is important to your study.
You can leverage it even in conjunction with Advanced URL targeting to ensure that you recruit your participants when they are on the most relevant section of your site.
Step 1: Click Target: Advanced.
Step 2: Select the checkbox in front of the “When passed custom property is matched” option.
Step 3: Enter the custom property in the required field.
Suggested survey composition pairing: Composition Examples 1 and 2
We suggest examples 1 and 2 because these users will most certainly be behind a log-in wall, and asking for contact information may be redundant.
Even if a user were to select “Yes” but not book time on your calendar, their response would still populate with the values for each of the custom properties you set.
Taking it one step further, leveraging the Identity API will allow each response to populate with their email address or user ID, which will enable you to follow up and confirm whether or not they are genuinely interested in participating.
Targeting users based on their logged-in status, or a list of specific users who fit your participant criteria
In this example, you can leverage the Identity API feature to track the identity of each of your users behind the log-in wall or only to target users who are not logged in.
With the Identity API enabled, you will also have the ability to target or ignore a list of users to recruit. It is also known as Whitelisting or Blacklisting.
As mentioned above, this feature will also ensure each response populates with the user’s identity information.
In Target: Advanced:
-
Target known visitors.
-
Select the checkbox in front of the “Only to identities on a white list or black list” option.
-
Enter the identities.
Suggested survey composition pairing: Composition Examples 1, 2, and 3
The ideal composition is strictly related to whether or not you are targeting users behind your log-in wall. If you target users in front of the log-in wall, use example 3. If you are targeting behind the log-in wall, utilize examples 1 and 2.
These methods are excellent for setting up interviews to gather unbiased feedback on your prototype, UX design, and more!
That is all about using Qualaroo to recruit user research participants onsite.
